We are pleased to announce that we will be holding our next webinar on Tuesday 29 September at 12 pm.
The video will be made available to members on demand for 1 month after the event; however, we recommend that you attend the live session as you will have the opportunity to ask the presenters questions during the training.
Our presenters will be Malin Nilsson, Managing Director, and Edward Shorrock, Director, of Duff & Phelps Channel Islands.
Malin and Ed will be providing an overview of regulatory enforcement and supervision trends and practical guidance on SAR handling covering the following key topics:
- An update from the Duff & Phelps 2020 Global Enforcement Review: an analysis of global regulatory enforcement trends;
- The regulator knows what you did last summer: an overview of the various ways in which the JFSC gathers information about you; and
- SAR handling update: a practical perspective.

Webinar hints and tips
We have noted that in our previous webinars, some members have had issues with joining and viewing the webinar. Please see below for further guidance on common issues members have experienced:
- Webinar not loading when clicking on the link to join
The webinar system we use is called Demio. Demio only supports certain browsers which are listed below. If you do not use a supported browser (with the minimum version requirements detailed below) you will not be able to join the webinar:
Chrome 55+
Firefox 53+
Safari 12.1+
Edge 42
- Webinar not loading when using an iPad
As noted above, Demio does support Safari but Demio does not officially support the use of iPads. We understand from Demio that if you are using your mobile you should be able to join by clicking on your unique join link. We would suggest that where possible you join using your desktop or laptop for better resolution and ease of use.
- Webinar sound quality and connection is not good
Live-video broadcasts can be quite demanding on connections and require a faster speed than for other internet-based services. Please see below for some suggestions to help improve connectivity:
- Connect to your network with an ethernet cable (directly to your modem/router) rather than using wifi.
- Ensure the network you're on is working correctly. Spotty connections (constantly going in-and-out) can be an underlying problem related to the network itself. Check with your internet service provider to rule out any issues.
- Ensure that you or others on the same network aren't consuming large amounts of bandwidth through other applications/uses (such as streaming video content, downloading large files, etc.). Doing so can limit the amount of bandwidth available for you to use for connecting to the Demio servers.
- If you have an older computer (or have several programs running at once), you might be limiting the available resources that Demio can use. Closing out any unused/competing applications can help free up resources.
- You may experience choppy audio/video when you initially turn on and connect your devices—this occurs as the connection is first being established and is normal. Once it successfully connects, everything should clear up.
