Caversham Fiduciary Services and was tasked with examining LGL, both examinations which culminated in prosecution. Her analytical work of complex structuring and arrangements, which have featured financial crime, has also involved other bodies, such as the Serious Fraud Office.
As part of her work at Oben, Nicola has fulfilled the role of reporting professional in assignments from the Jersey and Guernsey Financial Services Commissions, involving the examination and assessment of compliance by regulated entities with their legal and regulatory requirements. Extracts of such work have been cited in subsequent regulatory public statements.
Nicola is a regular contributor to working groups involved in the development of regulation, legislation and guidance. Along with her fellow directors, she regularly provides training to financial services business and industry bodies and can talk about financial crime for far too long.

Between running her business, JCOA duties and family life, there isn’t much spare time left. However, Ches has volunteered her time to various charities in the past and she is currently working on an exciting charity project.

Nicola brings to the Committee..
Over 30 years working within the finance industry in Jersey and London. She left London International Financial Futures Exchange to move to Jersey and eventually joined the Jersey Financial Services Commission where she worked from 1999 to 2016. During this time she was involved in the implementation of regulatory laws in the island comprising development of the Financial Services (Jersey) Law 1998, the codes of practice and dealt with the first licence applications. She worked in four divisions; investment business, enforcement, funds and funds services business before moving, with another colleague, to establish a dedicated heightened supervision team, which dealt with the most egregious supervisory matters across all sectors.
Nicola has been involved with some of the most contentious regulatory work; she was part of the team which dealt with the fraud and subsequent collapse of Belgravia Financial Services Limited, was involved in examinations including

Carla brings to the Committee..
Over 20 years working within the finance industry including within the banking, trust company business and the funds services business sectors in larger organisations with international group presence and has worked with the Jersey’s Financial Services Commission.
Carla has also contributed to the education of many islanders as she was the Author of books for the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators examinations (now known as the Governance Institute) and has interviewed individuals looking for fellowship level membership. Carla was the examiner of the Offshore Business Environment module of the ICSA Certificate for many years and was a marker for the ICA.
Carla holds the ICSA Professional level qualifications, ICA qualifications, completed her Investment Advice Certificate and has sat her PRinCE2 Project Management qualification.Ches brings a fresh perspective and a drive to improve the Jersey regulatory and compliance environment. Having seen the challenges faced by both industry and the regulator, she is passionate about giving people a voice, and working together to effect positive change across the Island.

Carla is a dog lover and holds the IMDTB Canine Behaviour qualification and a Canine Aggression Qualification and regularly attends courses in the UK and online to keep up to date in this area. As many relevant studies also apply to humans, this has also become an area of interest and so the reading, learning and observing never stops.
